Dear aunties and uncles and dear friends of Comon Grace:
Time sure flies when you're having fun, but yes, we've come to the end of another school year. Another year of growing, not just the kids we mentor, but for Common Grace as well. We close this school year with close to forty schools with Common Grace volunteers, and on the horizon, our first venture to a neighbor island. WOW! IF you attended the Common Grace Mahalo Dinner and picnic, you will know how much we value the time you spend with your child. You, our volunteers, are the heart and soul of Common Grace. You are the ones who allow us to spread our reach to other schools and other communities, and you are the ones with the ability to touch and transform young lives and make a difference in their future. You are the miracle workers that God will use to turn around "at-risk", lonely, isolated and even neglected children to see the beauty and potential within.
Take for example Taofia Pa'apa'a and Raymen Piliati. Two rambunctious boys with a penchant for trouble. Until they met "aunty" Lynne Nakamoto, volunteer mentor from New Hope Pearlridge. Lynne not only took on Taofia but his uncle Raymen as well. With the help of her daughter, Lynn found a gifting for music in the two boys and they were soon making music on keyboard, ukulele and vocals. From what little we heard at the Mahalo event, these two have great future in music. Not only has music and Aunty Lynne turned their energies from negative to positive, they have also started to pay more attention to their school work.
Not all of the children we are matched with will have a life changing transformation. Yet each of you are true miracle workers who God will use to bless the child. But that blessing may not come until much later.
We want to hear from you about your time with your Common Grace child and if you see a change in behavior. Would you kindly fill in the enclosed form and mail it back to our office. We really want your feedback!
