We Care About One Small Child At A Time
If you’ve been following the progress of our non-profit for the last 5 years, you have seen steady growth in number of school/church partnerships and exponential growth in the number of kids receiving one-to-one attention from caring mentors. Our staff has grown. Our board of directors has grown. We have a small, efficient office now and a pretty good website. I would go so far as to say that Common Grace is “on the map”. Praise God!
Growth is usually good, but --- There is a way increasing size could possibly distract from the core meaning of a mission like ours. Meetings breed more meetings like bunnies in a cage. If we get a grant-in-aid from a foundation or the government, we have to keep up with piles of paperwork. We could get too busy. But we won’t.
I’m active but not busy. (this is Jay writing) I refuse to get so active that I won’t be able to meet with my own Common Grace kid every Wednesday from 1:30 to 2:30 after school. If we get too big to love one small child at a time, we quit! |
